Dr. Oz has a Smart Way to Jumpstart the Year

Total10-HDR-725x221I've talked about cleaning up my eating in the New Year - isn't just about everyone talking about getting over the Holiday Food Hangover?  I've kicked it off really well, but have found a true Jumpstart program that I'm gearing up to begin on Monday.  I am a huge fan of Dr. Oz.  Actually, I'm a huge fan of anyone who can teach me something about our health and wellness, teach me current trends and studies and can share any bit of information that might help me or someone I know.  I've been following Dr. Oz for years, off and on, long before he had his own show and magazine.  While I don't catch his television show regularly, I did see part of his show yesterday and even recorded it so I could review it again.  I'm talking about Dr. Mehmet Oz in case you don't watch daytime TV, or haven't in the past 10 years,  or don't ordinarily read health and wellness magazine articles.  I know not all folks are nerds like I am.  You can find out more about him here.Dr. Oz introduced a 10 Day Rapid Weight Loss Plan.  When I heard the promo,  my ears perked up and I wanted to see what all the hullabaloo was about.  I'll be the first to say I'm not one to stick to a diet, don't believe in juicing for days or crazy gimmicks and diets.  However, this plan promoted eating whole foods, not going hungry, protein smoothies for breakfast and eating 12 ounces of protein a day.  That is a smart, doable, safe program that basically gets you back to eating as we should be eating.During the program and on his website, he outlines the program in a simple straightforward manner.  He provides a shopping list full of vegetables that one can eat in unlimited supply.  He also provides a recipe for a vegetable broth he encourages one to have on hand to eat between meals when hunger strikes.  He provides a recipe for protein smoothies, which includes berries, 2 Tb protein powder, almond milk, a bit of flaxseed oil and ice.  How easy is that?  I already have such a smoothie almost daily!Another thing he wants is for participants to begin each day with a cup of hot water with lemon.  I have read so many benefits of starting the day this way.  I have hot water with lemon on occasion, but not every morning.  This will be something that I've wanted to add to my day so perhaps this program will be my push to actually do it.  However, he also only wants me to have one cup of coffee a day.  This one will be the struggle for me.  Just the thought of not having that second cup is already making me a little nervous! So, what else are you not supposed to have on the 10 Day Plan?  Well, it's basically the things we shouldn't be having anyway!  No wheat, sugar, artificial sweeteners, alcohol, dairy or processed foods.  Surely I can do this for 2 weeks!  Surely if I can do this for 2 weeks I can stick with it . . .There is so much available in this plan for anyone looking for a little jumpstart to starting or getting back to healthy eating.  Dr. Oz's program provides recipes, 10 different breakfast options, 10 broth recipes, a shopping list, tips on surviving the weekend and a Facebook page full of participants and supporters.  Check out the program HERE.I'll be following up with my experiences, tips, Dr. Oz's tips and whatever else comes up on this 10 Day Rapid Weight Loss Plan.  I've challenged my Bootcamp group that begins next week to join me.  We'll see how much better we feel by eating clean, whole foods and keeping the sugar and junk out of our diets. If this program sounds inviting to you, then get in your pantry and clean it out!  Get rid of those Holiday leftovers.  Re-stock your refrigerator from the shopping list.  Here is the LINK for the shopping list.  Begin weening yourself off of that second cup of coffee and the alcohol!  Then you'll be ready to go on Monday!Doctor_Oz_s_Total_10_Rapid_Weight_Loss_P_2426070000_12208688_ver1.0_640_480Who's In?Are you a fan of Dr. Oz?  Have you heard of this plan?  How does it sound to you?  Are you in? ENJOY YOUR DAY!
