Wanderlust 108 in the ATL
If you are looking for something to do this weekend, look no further! I have you covered. Wanderlust 108 will be in Piedmont Park on Sunday! If you've never heard of Wanderlust it might sound a bit crazy . . . but it's just the biggest round-up of yoga, fitness, meditation and instructors around . . and did I mention music, a 5k, live DJ and lots of other stuff? So, don't let the yoga bit scare you off if you are envisioning a lot of chanting, free spirited folks wandering around speaking all yogaish.
This is really a cool event. And, like I said yesterday, I feel so fortunate to live in an area with so many health and fitness opportunities! Wanderlust 108 is the world's first ever "Mindful Triathlon". What in the world does that mean you might ask? Well, it's basically putting a twist on a more traditional triathlon. Rather than swim, bike and run, participants will have a 5k run, meditation/lecture session and then a large-scale 90 minute yoga class lead by some of the country's most dynamic yoga teachers. There will be inspiring speakers and live musical performances to engage the mind, body and spirit focusing on mindful living. How cool is that?
Atlanta is actually the second city on the Wanderlust 108 tour. It kicked off in New York City and is coming to Piedmont Park here in Atlanta on Sunday. In the afternoon, Keith Mitchell, a retired NFL football player will speak and lead the crown in meditation. He credits yoga and meditation in helping him recover from a dangerous football injury. Also speaking and teaching will be Neda Honarvar, Octavia Raheem and Sage Roundtree. Music will be provided live by MC Yogi and DJ Sol Rising.
Local venders will be there fith apparel, jewelry, healthy food options and luluemon will present The Front Yard showing spectators and participants retro lawn games. National sponsors will also be there to offer food, water, juices. HEALTH magazine will offer its own Zen Lounge for yogis to relax and enjoy more grey giveaway.
"Wanderlust 108 will support the Sonima Foundation and Urban Yogis, two organizations dedicated to bringing yoga and mindfulness into the public school system. For every ticket sold, $5 will be donated to the Sonima Foundation to aid their mission of bringing health and wellness best practices to K-12 children across the country. "
