It Takes More than Just Doing

Hey ya’ll

Something I hear about on such a regular basis lately, whether it is clients, friends or people who reach out to me, revolves around people telling me they know what to do but they just aren’t doing it. So, they seem to know what it is they want, or where they want to end up, but never actually moving forward to get there. Not because they do not know what to do, but because they just DON’T.

That sounds a little tricky, doesn’t it?

Does this sound familiar to you? To be honest, It is all too familiarr to me. I’ve been right in that spot. I’ve been sitting in a place that I knew I didn’t want to stay in. I knew what changes I needed to make, but I just kept sitting, waiting and sitting. And waiting.

It is sillly, isn’t it? It makes for a lot of wasted time. It also makes for a lot of regret. Those are two things that really scare me. I do not want to look back and think I have wasted this precious time I have and I do not want to look back and regret not making that move, not trying something new, not taking that chance.

What about you?

Do you know what to do about your wellness goals?

Do you know what to do to create more balance in your week?

Do you know how to make your days smoother, easier and less stressful?

Do you know what to do to feel more energized?

These are just the types of things we can tackle to get you from the knowing to the doing.

I have spent a lot of time working 1:1 with clients who want to feel better, create better systems, rituals and habits. I have also worked 1:1 with clients who aren’t sure what their next step is, but want to make that move forward.

It doesn’t matter whether you think you know what you should do, or whether you want some guidance and coaching. It all comes down to you making the decision to begin thinking and acting in a new way. Learning to think differently to then act differently is a process . But how you manage your thoughts and how you learn to reframe patterns and old ways of thinking is truly where the magic happens.

So, if you have been in the “sitting” position, knowing but not doing, it’s normal. That is the way our brains are made! Our brains do not like change. That’s why most new eating plans, new morning workout routines, New Year’s resolutions do not work. Our brains start freaking out that we are doing something new without checking in and bringing the brain on board.

That’s why it’s more than just knowing what to do. It’s more than knowing you want to make a change. It’s more than just the doing. You have to go back to the beginning of why you are creating a new habit or change and find ways to bring the brain in on the journey.
