Summer Reading!
I've not talked books here in quite a while. What better time than summer? Especially right before July begins - a time when many folks take some time off and have more time to do some summer time reading.I've read some really good books lately, as well as some that are just so-so. I get book referrals from friends, from the wonderful internet, and I'll even read those $2.99 specials on my devices when I run out of my monthly credits! Some of those have been the best surprises, I'll have to admit! I'll only list those that I have really liked here since there are just too many good books and too little time. You may have read many or all of them. If not, then I hope I've given you something good to look forward to.I hope you'll make time to sit back, relax, and get your nose in a book wherever you may be this summer. In a quiet, cool corner, at the beach, at the lake, by the pool or even snuggled in your own bed.
From My Kindle:
The Great Alone
Such a great story. There are stories inside of stories here.
Pachinko
This book was one of those full of history and culture I knew little about with strong characters that have stuck with me.
We Were the Lucky Ones
If you haven't read this one, you'll love it. Based on a truly remarkable story of a family who managed to make it through and reunite after some of our history's worst of times.
Digging In: A Novel
To really appreciate this book, you need to read the author's story of how this novel came to be and the timing of it.
Wonder
Have to admit I finished this in two days and laughed and cried . . .
The Couple Next Door: A Novel
I can't remember how I came to read this book, but it's one of those twisty ones that kept me hanging on.
The Letter
Another sweet story merging two different times in history.
The Gift
I picked this one up because of the subject. It revolves around the character receiving a heart transplant. As my father also recieved a heart transplant it intrigued me.
The Stars Are Fire
This is another one of those books with strong characters that will just stick with you. So good.
Everything We Keep
A different story with an ending I hadn't predicted.
My Audible Reads:
Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine
PLEASE click on the book to order this book if you haven't read it already. Love it!
The Wife Between Us
One of those thrillers with some twists and turns I didn't see coming.
The next two are fun reads, perfect for the beach. They are written and narrated by new best friend, Rachel Hollis. Good characters, good stories that keep you wanting to listen and listen . . .
Party Girl
Sweet Girl
High Tide Club
Since it takes place in Georgia, I'm always a bit interested. Mary Kay always includes a little mystery for the reader too which is fun. From my self-help, self-love, inspirational stack of books!
Girl, Wash Your Face
This is another by my friend, Rachel. Can't say enough good things about this. This is the book I wish I had written. Honestly. Obsessed with this book!
Praying the Scriptures for Your Adult Children
I am so happy to have discovered Jodie. I feel as if she could also be one of my best friends. She shares her faith in a completely real and honest way.
Dance Stand Run
I have to confess I am still in the middle of this one, but didn't want to leave it out.
The Rock, the Road, and the Rabbi
Going to the Holy Land is on my bucket list and I love the deep dive into the history and the land here. More power to Kathie Lee for this one!
She Means Business
If you are looking for some encouragement in your business this is an easy, get off your couch, and do something read.
I hope something sounds good to you! One of my mottos is never leave home without a good book!
