Consistency Over Motivation
Motivation is the buzz word used over and over in the fitness, diet, wellness world. It is also the word used to help kick us in the pants and get out of bed, beat bad habits, think good and positive thoughts and be the best versions of ourselves. There's a reason there are all those "Motivation Monday" posts on Instagram and Facebook these days. Motivation is supposed to be the key to all things good. It's the thing that pushes you out the door, drags you into the gym or the unknown or runs right beside you while you do your thing.Right?Except sometimes we just don't have it. I love to be the queen of motivation, but sometimes it just is not enough. We've all been there. It's just not there no matter how deep we dig. What do we do when we just don't feel like putting on our exercise clothes, or hitting pause on The Crown on Netflix to get a good night's rest, or making that healthy lunch or dinner? You do it anyway. You forget about whether you feel motivated or not and do what you know is the best thing for you at that time. You put on your workout clothes and make that spin class, or take a walk, make the extra time to prepare a healthy lunch. Some days you'll feel all energized and motivated and like you are all energy and light, and the next day you might wonder why bother. On those days, you don't stop to think or wonder, you just do it. Because in the end, what really matters is what you do consistently each and every day and week and month to make you the best version of you.I have a birthday coming up this year. I had the "big one" last year, so I've got this one under control. But, this is what I know. I have a lot of good years left - really good years. I want to use every single day of each of these years to make sure that I am healthy and fit and strong to be my best for this next part. So, I know it's not about those days when I feel super motivated and really kick butt in the gym and eat fabulously balanced meals all day, it's about being consistent and showing up on those days when I am not feeling the motivation and all the motivation posts in the world won't help. Being consistent in your goals and habits will be what stays with you during the long haul. You've got a lot of years left too, folks!*If you are lacking a bit in the motivation department these days and looking for a little accountability to create your own healthy balanced lifestyle join us February 12 for the February round of Better & Beyond!Enjoy Your Day!
