A Lovely Evening. . .Getting out of a rut

I've been on a mission lately to get us out of our rut.  By us, I mean The Husband and me.  We have become this boring duo that does the same thing, eats at the same restaurants and follows the same habits every weekend.  Until now.  We've been adding some new and different stuff to our normal routine - thank goodness!  One of the wonderful advantages of living where we do is that there is always something to do.  Atlanta has a lot of "stuff" going on at any given time.  You just have to actually set foot out of your normal routine to enjoy it!For the past few weekends we've tried to add something different to our normalcy.  Nothing fancy either, mind you.  Whether it's been hanging out at the Chattahoochee River with our dogs, meandering down to Krog Street, walking around the West Side for lunch, wandering around a gallery opening or merely trying a different restaurant, I'ts good to get a bit more adventurous. This past Saturday evening we were invited to do something I've always thought sounded fun.  We were invited by friends to a Concert in the Garden at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens.  The performance was by John Prine, who I'm not all that familiar with, but that didn't matter at all!  Even though it might have been the hottest day imaginable, when the sun went down it was perfect.  Sitting on the lawn with friends and listening to Prine and his guests were definitely worth getting out of our normal routine.  What made it even better was enjoying the gardens before and after the sun went down. After we got our spot, I wondered around for just a bit.  I loved walking through the Edible Garden to see the wonderful vegetables and fruits and everything else in bloom.  Some of the beds were made even more beautiful thanks to artist,  Dale Chihuly.  Currently,  the Atlanta Botanical Gardens' exhibit, Chihuly in the Garden includes 19 sites set within different parts of the garden.  These are beautiful glass blown sculptures bursting with different colors.  At night the transformation is even more beautiful as the sculptures are lit to showcase the bright colors Chihuly is so famous for.I got a little photo happy here, but the pictures speak much better than my words could . . .IMG_2005IMG_2008       IMG_2013IMG_2010IMG_2019IMG_2018      IMG_2016IMG_2022       IMG_2011IMG_2004IMG_2026What a wonderful back drop for an evening concert!  And of course, what's an outdoor concert without food and drink . . .IMG_2024IMG_2023Linton's provided boxed meals and appetizers which you could pre-order or grab at the Garden.  There were also plenty of cold beverages to keep the crowd cool. There are just a few concerts left for the Season.  Make sure you pack your low chair and - Go, enjoy! In my quest to "get out" more, do more, seize the day, and enjoy the blessings each day offers, I'm looking for something new for the weekend . . . . any suggestions?By the way, are you planning on running the Peachtree Road Race?  I've got something for you to try in my next post!Enjoy Your Day!Signature
