Find Your Pure Joy!
I've had one of those weeks where folks out there that come across my path seem to be trying to steal my joy. I've talked about joy many times in this space. Joy is something that I used to have absolutely all the time and absolutely took it for granted. I've been working on grabbing that joy back. I have worked really hard to keep it and not let silly things in life - you know, stuff like those mean or thoughtless people, unplanned circumstances, grouchy cashiers, grumpy teenagers, taxes and even a broken coffeemaker steal my joy.Sometimes it is another chore just to be happy! This week I had a few instances that just made me crazy. I know we all have them. I am still shaking my head about a traffic incident where I was stuck at an intersection through three red lights. When I was finally able to turn onto Peachtree Road (at 5 pm so if you know anything about Atlanta traffic you know it is a horrific situation on a good day!) when two young fellas starting walking - actually slowly strolling - across the road. Right in front of me. Stopping me and the huge line of cars behind me. The entire time these two fellas leered at me and proceeded to flip the finger at me and the other drivers they were holding up. They were very classy young men.And it really got under my skin.Have you watched the new any this week? Well, let me tell you, if you are trying to be a happy and joyful person, stay away from the local and national news. And the foreign news for that matter. Then there is the matter of the testosterone that resides in my home. Much of this testosterone belongs to those large, smelly humans that are also known as my children. Let's just say that while I can say that they are all my pride and joy . . . sometimes some of them are not. Enough said. So, in light of some of the negative stuff that has been working to steal my joy this week, I'm focusing on those little things that make me happy. I'm a simple girl. It just doesn't take much. What do you think about this purple polish? I just coated my toenails with this awesome purple polish and I love it. So there you rude people at the grocery store!Isn't this the sweetest little arrangement? So simple with hydrangeas from our yard and rosemary making it smell oh so good! I put this together to take to a friend today. It made her happy which made me so happy. So there nasty Atlanta traffic!I missed lunch today so came home starving this afternoon. I whipped up this delicious banana, peach, vanilla protein shake. It definitely kept me from getting hungry and the glass always makes me smile. So there to people who live in my house and forget that a Mom is still a human!Lastly, I have that all time best joy booster ever! In fact, I watched it THREE times yesterday and laughed out loud and cried each and every time. I know you, too, have seen this, but I just HAVE to share it again. I am already smiling while I type, just thinking about it![embed]https://youtu.be/y3yRv5Jg5TI[/embed]COME ON PEOPLE! You KNOW you are laughing!
