Blog Your Heart Out Day

It's Friday and I normally give my Friday Finds in this space, but decided it was more important to share with you that today is the 3rd Annual BLOG YOUR HEART OUT DAY.  The American Heart Association and fitlosophy, inc. have dedicated today as a day for bloggers to speak up about the NUMBER 1 killer of women - yep, it's heart disease.  I have actually written an earlier post this  month about February being American Heart Month and the very real and close connection I feel with supporting this cause.  You can read that post here http://www.marla-deen-fit.net/3/post/2013/02/the-month-of-the-heart.html.
Two years ago I lost my father from complications due to years of heart related issues.  Most recently, I lost my brother from a stroke.  Unfortunately, my mother also has heart related health issues.  Therefore, I know firsthand the importance of raising awareness about the risks of heart disease!

It is  never too early to make changes for your heart health.  In my earlier post I outlined great tips.  In a nutshell, all it takes is change bad eating habits, begin exercising, get a physical and heart check up and make sure you are getting a blood screening from your doctor. These are all doable steps that can lead to a healthier, longer, liveable life.  I am here, joining this movement to challenge you to just do it!  Make the changes!  Know your numbers and know your bodies.  Please check out this site http://www.getfitbook.com/v/vspfiles/BYHO/redirect.htm.  It's full of helpful information, real life stories, inspiration and knowledge to knock heart disease off of its pedestal as the NUMBER 1 killer of women!

There are six days left in February.  You can still make this your very own Heart Month!  Make the changes.  Make the doctor appointment.  Go Red.

 Enjoy your Friday!
Have you been putting off that dr's appointment?  Are you making mindful choices? Choices that help protect your heart?
