New Year New Path

Sitting down to write this post is a little scary.  If you have been here for any amount of time you know I share.  I can overshare and I know that about myself.  When I first began this blog many seasons ago it was a way to connect with my fitness clients and classes.  It was a space to share wellness, fitness, healthy recipes and nutrition tips.  Then a little bit of life began to creep in as you and I began to connect more and become more comfortable with each other.

This space, along with my work teaching fitness classes, working one on one with clients in training, and nutrition and wellness just never felt like work.  Helping clients make progress, engage in healthy habits, being a cheerleader, making friendships and connections and the continuing education to learn new things and share new information really hit on my sweet spot.  My love language is Service and my Enneagram is a Two, with a Seven Wing. (That’s another post for another day) But,  if you don’t know what any of that means and you don’t know your own, google both the minute you finish reading this.  But please keep reading before you do!

New Year New Path
New Year New Path

In the past, I don’t know, maybe three years, you may have noticed a shift in some of my writings as I began learning, experiencing and sharing more about the Mindset part of wellness.  (and that was a big component of my online program, that I felt made it a bit different) Because here’s the truth – you can do all the workouts and eat all the Big Ol’ Salads, but if your mind is not connected to why you are or not doing certain things, then your health, and you, will never be its best.

With that in mind, and my need to be in service and help others, I began looking for something else.  I’ve been embarrassed to share this because I have not wanted to come across as scattered or “all over the place”.   If you read my About Me page you’ll see my own why behind why I know that health and wellness are so important.  Going forward in 2021 I will be going a little deeper into that at times.

We all navigate hard times and struggles at some point in life.  One of the life changing events over the past few years for me was watching my husband struggle with the terrible disease of alcoholism, the devastating effects it had on those around him, our boys, his death in 2019 and the after affects of such trauma and loss.

Fighting fear and the unknown every day for a really long time, hunkering down, making a new path,  getting unstuck and moving forward was my new job.  Along with the other 2,135,128 balls juggling in the air of mom duties, side hustles, learning a new legal practice, figuring out how to be a single mom, navigating an empty nest, just all the things we do in our normal routines, right?

That change changed so many things for my family and me.  And it also left me questioning what I was supposed to do with that.  How could I use this part of my story, along with my other experiences, to serve, help or have a positive impact?

So, as is my practice, I began reading, researching, and being quiet.  And then began learning again.

I enrolled in a wonderful program that combines health coaching and life coaching.  It has been a perfect match for my wellness background and reinforces what I already practiced while adding the life coaching certification has been the missing part for me.  Rather than look at this as “one more thing” I view it as the culmination of “all the things” in my background and experiences and the very best next step in how I can to use my time and energy in this new season of my life.

This does not mean that I’m dropping my wellness component – Heck No!  In fact, I’m working with a couple of clients now and have some fun projects on the horizon.  It does mean that I want to broaden my practice to help women navigate new seasons with resilience, purpose and joy.

Maybe you have your healthy lifestyle dialed in but you have another area of life that has you stuck.  Maybe it’s a career change, empty nest, divorce, widowhood of an uncertain season of life.

And what a year to become a life coach.  Talk about uncertainty, right?

This new year is bringing this new path.  I’m so excited to see where it will lead!

Whew.  That was a long post and, as I said, a bit scary for me.  Here I am getting all uncomfortable (;.

And if you are still here, I have a huge favor.  As part of my certification I need to have a few practice calls. So. . . . .if you are up for offering a little help I’d so appreciate it!  I promise I’ll make it super FUN and short.  You might even learn a little something 💚

Just get in touch HERE

That’s it for today.  Here’s to Your Own New Year and New Path!

Stay Well!
