I've designed a mat for those tired of the distraction of being uncomfortable and want to focus on getting the most out of your workout!

I used to teach a Yoga/Pilates fusion class every Friday at 11 am.  I loved this class.  We met in a local church gym.  Clients would bring their mats and I would have them move from standing to their mat in typical fashion.  I began noticing one participant in particular.  Every Friday she brought in two mats and would move from one mat to the other depending on what moves we were doing.  Her movement from mat to mat were intentional.  She had a nice, cushy mat for any position down on the mat, such as on all fours, elbow planks, any moves where a knee might touch the ground.  On the other hand, if we were standing, in down dog, or balancing, she would step over to her thin mat.  It was if she was dancing back and forth for the perfect balance for her workout.

During this same time I was teaching a private yoga class to a group in a law firm.  One of the clients had a particularly interesting way of handling any position calling for a knee or knees to touch the mat.  He would scramble over and grab the socks he had taken off before the beginning of class.  He would take a sock and place under his knee or knees at any chance.

Of course, this wasn’t really anything new.  For years I had noticed class participants rolling their mats over or using folded towels on top of their mats to help cushion various body party.  Heck, I had done the same thing!  I have a certain spot right on the outside of my left knee that always makes me jump through my skin if it touches the ground at a particular spot.

This particular problem, this inconvenience and distraction began to bother me.  With ALL of the yoga, fitness and exercise mats on the market, why was this still an issue?  So began a three year process to help fix this issue.

Until today.  After SO. many. false starts.  Research, phone calls, no’s and more no’s and scrambling, and doubts and then a spell when I just had to put it on the back burner, and asking for help again and again, here it is.  I know it’s not a cure for cancer – or the coronavirus – but I’m thrilled to have something to offer those of you out there who would like to try something new.  Those of you who are tired of aching joints, carrying around extra mats, extra towels, extra yoga pads, or even extra socks!  Those of you who are tired of the distraction of being uncomfortable, attempting to find comfort, and simply want to get the most out of your workout, your stretching, your therapy!

This is a standard mat measuring 24″ x 72″ and the front and back portions are a standard thickness of 5 mm.  The difference is the center cushion which is a 12″ portion across the mat with a thickened cushioned pad measuring 17 mm.
