Thanksgiving Musings

Looking back at some of my older content I realized I have written a LOT about Thanksgiving.  I mean a LOT.  I guess that shows how I really love this day of celebrating.  You know I love food, so there’s that.  However, this is a day to just celebrate being together around a table and being Thankful.  No hype, no pressure, no gifts, no wrapping.  It can be a table full of family and all of the fun, drama and craziness that can bring or it can be a table full of friends (the so popular Friendsgiving these days) or a wonderful combination of the two.

As we, and our children, get older, getting together in one room, at one time, to share a meal takes on a whole new meaning.  Sometimes it’s as rare as a unicorn.

While Thanksgiving, and any holiday, can be fun and celebratory and joyous, it can also be sad and lonely and something to simply muddle through.  Unfortunately, in all honesty here, I’m feeling like this is one to muddle through.  This year I’m reminded of a post I wrote after my mom’s death.  I’m at the point now that I can look back on Thanksgivings with her and actually hear her telling me exactly how to stir the dressing or make the mac and cheese.

Here’s an old post if you are having a “muddle through” holiday.  This will be one for us as it will be the first Thanksgiving my boys will have without their dad.

We continue to move forward and I know how many things we all have to be thankful for.  For all these blessings we will prepare, plan, cook, eat and celebrate!  If you are looking for some good old or new recipes, I’ve pulled some from HERE this year.  You should bookmark this as it is a GREAT source from Kitchn.

In the past I have shared some of my favorite Thanksgiving recipes HERE and some new recipes HERE.  in the past HERE and HERE.

If you have any angst about undoing all your hard work, derailing your healthy habits, or gaining weight from this one day, remember, It’s Just One Day!

If you want to take a peek at any of my other Thanksgiving posts, simply scroll down to the bottom and enter “Thanksgiving” in the search bar.  You can do this after your big meal and it’ll put you right to sleep!

As I close, I have one more Thanksgiving reminder Here!

As I close, I hope you have a day FULL of THANKS!

LIVE WELL!
