Why MY Message?

June 18, 2018 by Marla-Deen Brooks 2 Comments

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

There are a lot, lot, LOT of healthy living sites out in this world.  I’m telling you if I was a begin uber competitive in this area I would have totally stopped brainstorming, writing and posting long ago.  There is so much noise in the media, in books, magazines and on our dear old internet about health, fitness and wellness, it’s hard for a gal or guy to know where to spend her or his time.  I get that – totally.  That is one of the hugest reasons I am genuinely touched when someone takes the time to comment on a post either here or on Facebook, or send me a personal text or even stop me in the grocery store to comment on something they read, or liked, or was challenged by here in this space.  That is huge to me.

If you are new here or just happened upon this MarlaDeenFit space, I should tell you why you should stick around and why, maybe, you should not.  I am NOT one to waste your time, so let me be straight here with what my message is and why I think it’s a wonderful, glorious and liveable message.  But before I go there, I’ll tell you who my message is not for.

If you are searching for a fitness instructor, health coach or nutritionist to help you get a quick fix to lose weight fast with some crazy, drink juice only for five days straight,  diet so you can get into those skinny jeans for one event, I am not your gal. If you want to train exclusively to enter a bikini competition and enter into that world of super clean eating, precise food measurements, chicken and asparagus for breakfast, and dehydrate your body for four days leading up to a competition, I am not your gal. I am not saying that is not an awesome goal, because it surely is!  I wish I had the edge to want to do that, but sadly that’s never been on my bucket list.  I do not have the knowledge or experience to help you there, but I’ll be the first to help find you an awesome coach and cheer you on!

If you are looking for a site that will share with you precise meal plans that you have to eat every single day for three months, and count your calories and exist in a restrictive, calorie deficit way, then, again,  I am not your gal.

Lastly, if you are looking for a site that shares super aggressive, brutal and relentless workouts that force you to work out every single day with no rest, while being yelled at aggressively, again, this isn’t for you.

My message is quite different.  My message comes from a much different place and wants you to be in a much different place.  My message comes from my own personal struggles, stories and experiences, trial and error, and my own long list of imperfections.  I will be the first to tell you that I do not always get it right.  However, rather than beat myself up for making a poor choice regarding my health and well-being, I have finally learned to let it go and make the next good choice.  That is what I want for you.  I want to provide and share valuable content by way of tips, recipes, workouts, motivation and even opinions that will help you create your very own path to a healthy lifestyle.

I want to encourage you to make choices not just for the here and now, but for the long haul. I want you to think of this great big life as a marathon, not a sprint.  Every single day there are millions of choices we can make.  I want to encourage you to make the best choices for your best lifestyle.  A lifestyle of feeling good, nurturing your body, mind and heart.  A lifestyle of moving your body, gaining and keeping strength,  and having flexibility so that you can get up and down off of the floor today as well as in years to come.  I don’t know where you are in life, but I’m hoping that one day you’ll be able to get up and down from the floor with grandchildren, or grandpets or even just to pick up the pesky dustbunnies gathered in the corner.

My message is a healthy balanced lifestyle for longevity.

If you want to rock that bathing suit at the beach, that’s awesome.

If you want to get a wash-board abs,  go for it.

If you want to beat your personal best time in the next half-marathon, you go!

I am all for whatever your health, fitness and wellness goals are.  As long as they are real-life goals.  As long as they are sustainable.  As long as they move you forward each day to be a healthy version of you.

Yes, I do offer a group online program.  I also offer 1:1 Mentoring programs and have a few other options that will be available soon.  That is because I know that different things work for different folks.  I do not believe that there is a single one and only cookie cutter type of program, diet or workout regimen that works equally for the masses.  We are all different with different bodies, experiences, genetic makeups, health concerns and personalities.  That being said, I do think that here I can offer super helpful advice, encouragement and ideas that can help folks look at their life, their habits, and their choices with longevity in mind.

We can all benefit from eating nutritious, healthy foods.  We can all benefit from cutting the processed foods from our diets.  We can all benefit from exercise, trying new workouts, and adding new movements to our routines.  We can also all benefit from learning habits to reduce stress, priortizing ourselves and fostering well-being in our lives.

So, that’s my message.  It has nothing to do with the latest and craziest new fad or trend.  It has everything to do with making mindful and intentional choices that lead you to your own healthy balanced lifestyle for longevity.

I hope this is a message that resonates with you.  I am so happy you are here and I am so thankful for my readers!

Enjoy Your Day!
