Here is Part 2 to my current Summer Reading list.  This is a list of the books I have listened to through Audible.com.  I’ve written how I love to listen to books while driving on long trips, walking my dog, even folding laundry, gardening and getting through what are typically distasteful jobs.

Here we go . . .

Rules of Civility

I listened to this book this Spring and loved it.  It got me through clearing out a huge planting bed in my front yard, measuring out a design, staking and tying guide string and planting groundcover.  It was a large undertaking and when I look at it now I think of this book!

Every Crooked Nanny

I have become a fan of  Mary Kay Andrews when I want a lighter read.  I can usually relate to some of her Southern descriptions, characters and humor.  This one took me on a five hour drive recently.

The Weight of Lies

I was unfamiliar with this author but was intrigued when I saw that parts took place in Georgia.  I think I was out of Audible credits and this one was on one of their $2.99 sales – well worth it!

One True Loves

This is a story of life and love and choices. . . I wasn’t quite sure exactly how the main character would go until the end of the tale.

Anything is Possible:  A Novel

You will want to read My Name is Lucy Barton before opening this book.  It picks up a few years later and pulls everything together in the plain and simple style Strout uses.

Hillbilly Elegy

I put this book off for months thinking it just wasn’t up my alley.  Boy, was I wrong!  It is a wonderful read and story.  I liked it so much I ordered a hard copy hoping  the First Son and the Husband would pick it up for its wonderful humor, inspiration,  and history.

The Magnolia Story

I have been like the rest of America and watched as Chip and Joanna Gaines and their sweet children have taken over HGTV and the home renovation market with their show, Fixer Upper.  I have always had a thing for burly, handy men who can make folks laugh, so I have a secret crush on Chip.  This was entertaining and a bit inspiring to hear how this couple started and through their passion and strong work ethic made things happen.

These next two are not such recent reads, but not sure if I have shared them and I really liked both!

The Rosie Project

China Dolls
