Lose the Visor! Grab a Hat . . .

When you live with someone long enough you learn their habits, quirks and idiosyncracies.  I’ve lived with The Husband for almost a quarter of a century so I’ve learned and grown accustomed to those odd habits of his.  I’m not saying this in a mean way, I promise.  I freely admit right here in black and white that I am a woman of many strange habits.  One of the things The Husband does rain or shine, snowstorm or thunderstorm, sunny day outside or gray, dreary day indoors, is coat himself with sunscreen.

This is one of his habits that he does religiously.  In fact, when the boys were younger and he was one of the volunteer coaches for baseball or football,  he was known as clown face for the heavy, white slathering of sunscreen he applied daily.  And often.  And liberally.  I am not making fun here.  I am actually applauding it because we all know how vital it is to protect ourselves from the sun.

However, the sunscreen isn’t always enough.  We all know we need to shade our faces and neck and that’s where hats come in.  Visors are one of the “go tos” for folks, especially men.  More often than not you’ll see a golfer or tennis player or a man participating in an outdoor activity wearing a visor.  I get it.  You get the shade without all the heat and sweat from having the head covered.  But, I’m saying get rid of those visors and put that hat on your head.

The Husband is home recovering from having a skin cancer removed from the very tip top of his head.  All that sunscreen he so thoughtfully applied didn’t help with that uncovered spot on top of his head.  Wearing a visor offers absolutely no protection from the sun on the head.  I am sharing this story here so you will share with those in your life, especially those males, to ditch those visors and replace them with hats.

I know that this is a good look:

And when I encourage men to wear a hat, I know you likely don’t want to look like this:

But, if you are out on the golf course, you can still look great and take care of yourself:

And you can even take it a step further for even more protection:

Seriously, if these guys can do it, so can you.  Yes, real men wear hats!

No one loves the sun more than I do.  However, let’s just be smart.  Please cover yourselves, including your entire head.

Enjoy Your Day!
