health podcasts

I have grown to love podcasts.  I love the whole concept of being able to listen and learn or listen and be entertained while doing any mundane thing.  Podcasts have made doing normal everyday chores completely enjoyable!  I listen to them almost daily, while working, doing things around the home, walking the dogs, and especially if I have to be in the car for any length of time.  I have a few that I listen to regularly and try to search and listen to new ones periodically.  There are so many people with interesting ideas, tips, motivations, hacks and information.  Since I do not have time to read all the books that interest me I love the concept of podcasts.  Why didn’t I think of that?

There are some fabulous health and wellness podcasts out there that I like to visit for new information and opinions.  There are also some out there that I haven’t discovered or had time to focus on yet.  I recently ran across a list of some of the top health podcasts and wanted to share these as well as some of my favorites.   If you are not a podcast listener, it might just be your new favorite thing.

I have experience with some of these on this list but not all.  Since all tastes are different, if one or another is not my favorite, I am still including as it might be your new favorite!

The Ultimate Health Podcast
This health podcast is co-hosted by holistic nutritionist Marni Wasserman and chiropractor Dr. Jesse Chappus. They dig into a wide range of health-related topics like nutrition, superfoods, fitness, meditation and spirituality. They are described as fantastic interviewers so might be worth exploring.

Happier by Gretchen Rubin
I am extremely biased here as I love this podcast and think I’ve listened to every single episode! Gretchen Rubin, author of The Happiness Project and Happier at Home, offers manageable advice for creating more happiness in our lives. She co-hosts with her sister and they have a great dynamic together. I always come away a little happier, no pun intended . . .

The Autoimmune Wellness Podcast
My mother suffered from two autoimmune diseases so the information in some of these podcasts really interests me. I have only listened to a few but find some of the information fascination.  It’s intended to be a companion guide to their autoimmune wellness handbook, but you don’t need a copy to listen to them for  advice for healing autoimmune conditions, or listening to their interviews with experts.

The Art of Epic Wellness
The title on this one really sucked me in. Who doesn’t want epic wellness in their lives? It features habits, rituals and plans you can use to devise an actionable plan for your wellness journey.

Katy Says
I came across information on Katy a couple of years ago and appreciate what she stands for and advocates. Anyone out there advocating more movement in our lives is looking out for us.

Rewild Yourself
I haven’t listened to this podcast but it is on my list. The author, Daniel Vitalis is a health advocate that attempts to get listeners to become free from the harmful effects of our modern world.

The Minimalists Podcast
Joshua and Ryan have added to their well known blog with their podcast. They focus on consuming less and focusing on what really matters in life. These are two wealthy executives who left it all behind to live simpler lives.

On Air with Ella
I have only listened to Ella a couple of times, but she always seems really down to earth and relatable. She interviews a wide variety of fitness, nutrition and wellness experts that help us stay on track and enjoy the process.

The Lively Show
Again, I’ve only listened a few times here, but always feel as if I come away with some little nugget. This is a weekly podcast reminding us to live with intention each day. I think the idea is a good one as we all get far too busy.

The Crave Cast
Now this is one I have not listened to but the title sounds interesting. Alex Jamieson, author of Women, Food & Desire, offers insight in her podcast to help us figure out our true cravings and desires, and how we can satisfy those cravings in order to live a healthy life.

Food Psych Podcast
This is a podcast for anyone who has ever struggled with food, dieting and body image. Christy helps listeners make peace with food by talking with experts about body image, eating disorders, nutrition, self-compassion and self-care.

The Model Health Show
This is one of the top-rated healthy podcasts on iTunes. I that takes a no-holds-barred approach to a wide variety of topics. The host, Shawn Stevens, delivers complex topics in an easy-to-understand way.

Revolution Health Radio
If you have a question you can always go to Chris Kresser’s website. He provides science backed health info and this podcast follows up on that. He looks into health myths, tips and advice on preventing some of the most common diseases.

Yoga Download
Got 20 minutes to spare? This podcast offers a yoga sequence to help you relax or energize. There are a variety of classes and styles to choose from, and you can do them anywhere.  What a great idea!

Balanced Bites
I began following Diane Sanfilippo after reading her book, 21 Day Sugar Detox.  In this podcast she and her co-host Liz Wolfe offer a practical and modern approach to holistic & Paleo/real food nutrition and throw in some of their real life stuff.

 The Chalene Show
This might be one of my first podcast discoveries.  Chalene Johnson, founder of tons of workouts and DVDs such as PiYo, Turbo Fire and others.  In her podcasts she shares just about everything!  She talks fitness, health, wellness, business, organization, family, social media  . . . you name it.
Fitfluential Radio
I have been a Fitfluential Ambassador for a while now and have loved seeing this entity grow.  This podcast is new on the scene but seems to be growing quickly.  Each week, the hose and Fitfluential founder, Kelly Olexa,  covering current information, research, and studies regarding health, wellness, and fitness.  Each episode sets out to educate and empower listeners  to stay current about health and well-being.
There you have it.  This list in no way contains all the health and wellness podcasts out there.  There are so many more, but this is a good start!  There are only so many hours in a day, you know.   If you are new to the podcast thing, I can tell you that you can typically tell if you are going to like someone based on just a few listens and sometimes in just a few minutes.  The beauty is you can hit stop and move on to another if one is not your thing.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on any of these and to know what you are listening to!  Please share!
Enjoy Your Day!
