How I am observing Lent . . .and a stretch reminder

Normally I share what I am giving up or adding during the Lenten Season, the 40 days leading up to the celebration of Easter.  I felt like it came a wee bit early this year, as we are already one week in.  I took a very quiet approach this year and, actually, decided to add to my daily quiet time.  I am trying to spend some extra quiet time on those individuals in my little world that I call my family.  So, far it has been a week well spent!

I have been all over the place with observing these 40 days with either a time of sacrificing something that I thought would be beneficial, or adding something to each day that would challenge me, or make me get myself off of auto pilot and actually put some mindfulness into the day.  Last year I gave up Facebook for Lent.  The year before I decided the focus was on Finding Joy each day and before that I wanted to get rid of the nasty “body image devil” and have 40 Days of Grace.  In the past I’ve also challenged myself and my classes to add on pushups each day, or to take time to stretch each day.

Speaking of stretching, I’m sharing a video that I made for a virtual client.  This time of year folks tend to forego stretching or short change themselves on a good, full stretch.  The colder temperatures can wreak havoc on our flexibility if we don’t stick with a good stretching routine, get in a yoga class or make time for an at home practice.  If you need a basic, all over stretch following a workout, check this out.  Mind you, it’s not fancy! I’m basically in my bedroom, with no make up on, so keep the expectations low!

Do you observe Lent?  What are you doing this year?  What have you done in the past and which have meant the most?

Enjoy Your Day!
