I am counting down the days until we head to the beach.  It is our annual family week at the same beach we’ve been going to for years.  I’m one of those folks that could stay at the beach forever.  I love everything about it.  I look at vacation as a time to slow down, relax, refresh, indulge and just enjoy with no guilt.  However, I still like to be active and do stick to a few healthy habits.  They aren’t too difficult and definitely make a difference.

1.  Keep Moving – get in your 10 – 15,000 steps a day!

Whether you keep up with your normal or slightly modified workouts, or take some time off from your normal routine, you don’t want to turn into a stationary blob.  Keep moving and keep getting in your daily steps.  Even if that means making an extra trip from the lounge chair to get another ice water. . .

2.  Eat a healthy Breakfast – start your day off right!

Continue to begin your day with a light and healthy breakfast to keep your metabolism going and start your day off in a healthy way.

3.  Hydrate!

Make water your drink of choice all day long!  I know it’s vacation and you may likely indulge in other types of drinks and that may be part of your vacation, but make sure you continue to fill up on lots of water!

4.  Get in a Probiotic!

Whether you eat yogurt, drink a probiotic drink or take a probiotic, CONTINUE this habit!  Oftentimes on vacation things get a little irregular and this truly helps keep your system running smoothly, especially if you are indulging on foods, drinks and treats you normally do not.

5.  Eat Your Fruits and Vegetables

Make sure you get 3-4 servings of fruits and vegetables during your day.  You can enjoy your meals out, just begin with a healthy salad, or make salad your lunch, fruit your snack and add vegetables to your plate.

That’s it!  Nothing too difficult here!

Are you planning a vacation?  What are your tips?  Where do you prefer to vacation?  Do you remain active or truly vacate from your normal routine?

Enjoy Your Day!
