My No Fail Smoothie Recipe

It’s that time of year.  It’s warmer outside so all I want to grab in the mornings for breakfast are cool, fresh smoothies.  This past weekend I was working with a client and decided to take her one of my smootphoto 6hies to have after her workout.  I’m happy to say she was thrilled with her surprise, loved it,  and wanted to know exactly what I used in my “recipe”.   I can’t say I would call throwing a few things into my Vitamixer a recipe, but I do have a standard “go to” mix that always turns out perfectly.  The additions may change daily or weekly depending on what is fresh and what I have on hand, but the base is pretty much the same on most days.

This is what normally goes into the bottom of the blender:

My No Fail Smoothie

4 cubes of Ice

1 Scoop Vanilla Whey Protein Powder

3-4 small organic strawberries

1/4 (about a palm full) of blueberries

1/2 Banana

1 Cup Vanilla Unsweetened Almond Milk

Blend and Enjoy!

If you want it to look more like this (which, for me, is most mornings!)  IMG_2763

Throw in a handful of fresh Spinach or Kale

Other Additions:

Chia Seeds

Flax Seeds

Fresh Mango

1/2 Chopped Apple

2 Stalks Celery

1/2 Cucumber

1/2 Fresh Peach

Fresh Papaya

1/2 Kiwi

1/2 Cup Fresh Raspberries

1/4 Cup Fresh Pineapple

Or whatever looks and sounds good to you!

*You may notice that I use fresh fruit.  That is simply my personal preference.  LOTS of folks make theirs with frozen fruits and berries and they come out just as delicious!  If I do notice my bananas beginning to brown, I will chop them up and throw them into a ziploc bag into the freezer.  I will also do the same with my fresh fruit if it seems as if it might go bad before it is used.

**Also, I ‘m not a huge chocolate fan so I always opt for Vanilla Protein Powder.  However, the Second Son has his own shake daily made with Chocolate Protein Powder, 1/2 Banana, 3-4 strawberries, 1 % Milk and 4 ice cubes**

I hope this gives  you some ideas to add to your own Protein Smoothies.  I can’t think of an easier, tastier way to start the day getting your protein, fruits and veggies!

How do you prepare your smoothies?  What is your favorite?

Enjoy Your Day!
