Since Valentine’s Day is tomorrow I feel compelled to post something Valentiney, although I’ve already said I’m not exactly the romantic kind of gal. I’m thinking more in the lines of a nice little sweet treat that feels decadent and is easy enough to fix and eat while standing at your kitchen counter. That’s exactly what I did today. And my sweet tooth is feeling pretty darn satisfied thanks to these little things:
Have you seen these at your grocery? I’m telling you that you need to jump in your car and go grab a handful before they are gone. They are that good! And that’s coming from a girl who has been off of the greek yogurt kick for about 3 months now.
This all came about because I made Valentine cookies for my boys at home and to send to the college boy. Of course, I had to taste one (or a few) and that just started the sweet tooth. I decided I needed to stay out of the cookies but satisfy the want for something sweet so here is my creation, thanks to these Yoplait Greek 100 Whips!
This is the vanilla cupcake flavor with some fresh strawberries and a little drizzle of melted dark chocolate. And I think putting it on a pretty saucer made it taste even better! The Yoplait Greek 100 is ACTUALLY 100 calories (go figure) with 9 grams of protein and 12 grams of sugar. I know that is 12 grams of sugar but that’s a whole lot less sugar than in the chocolate chip and M&M cookies I was stealing! The consistency is light and fluffy, not like a normal greek yogurt. It’s more like a bit of mousse. The vanilla cupcake flavor was so yummy, I can’t wait to try the strawberry.
Here is the second Valentiney thing I love. The wonderful heart with the peace symbol just says it all to me. Love and Peace. If you ask my boys what I want for any major holiday, minor holiday, birthday or any day in between they will tell you all I ever ask for is peace.
In light of that wish, I’ve gotten some pretty cool peace signs and symbols – my favorite of which is a large metal peace symbol that lights up and hangs outside. Through the years, living in a house of three rowdy boys, at times 3-4 dogs and a man/child Husband, there seems to be lots of loudness, rough housing, strife, fighting, and simple chaos around here. A wish for peace has always been a genuine wish that seemed to always be just out of reach. However, I have to admit things have gotten a wee bit more peaceful. Taking College Boy out of the home equation to live it up in a dorm room helps, as does the fact that the other boys are a little too old to fight over who has the best action figure. It’s not that I have retired my referee shirt yet, it’s just that I don’t have to wear it every day all day long, and that means a more peaceful existence around this place.
I will still ask for peace for Valentine’s Day this year from my boys, and continue to keep it at the top of my prayer list for the rest of the year. It seems that we all go through more peaceful times of our lives when things seem to rock and roll along and then something happens – maybe something exciting like a crazy/busy senior year with a child, a new job or project that has you swamped, or a new baby, or something far less joyous like an injury or a loved one’s illness. These things tip the scale and keep the peace away. We just need to hold on to this picture of Love and Peace and find a little bit of each every day. So that’s my wish for you!
So, have you tried these Yoplait Greek 100 Whips? What’s your favorite flavor? Any Valentine wishes of your own? How do you keep a peaceful home – because I’m sure yours is more peaceful than mine – and I need tips! Is this a peaceful season of life or a rollercoaster season?
Happy Valentine’s Day of Love and Peace to YOU!
