My Review of Dr. Oz’s 2 Week Rapid Weight Loss Program

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Did you jump on board with trying out Dr. Oz’s 2 Week Rapid Weight Loss Total10-HDR-725x221Program?  If you did, you know the two weeks are up and I’m wondering what you thought – How do you feel?  Any different?  Better? More energized? No change?  I’m here to give you my honest opinion on this program.

I will back up a tad and tell you WHY I decided to try it because I often hate talking about weight and weight loss.  I don’t want this site to be “weight” focused or anyone to think I am obsessing about weight for the wrong reasons.  I am very fortunate to be healthy, strong, and at a normal weight range for my height and age.  That being said, fitness and living a healthy lifestyle is very important to me.  However, it’s also important for me to share that I am just like everyone else out there – human and imperfect.  I do not always make the best food choices . . . told you I’m all about honesty!  This past Fall I spent a weekend with my two best high school girlfriends in our hometown.  As usual, when I came back home the scale jumped about three pounds from my sharing wine and hometown foods.  I didn’t really worry about those pesky three pounds because I knew they’d disappear when I got to my normal routine.

Well, that just didn’t happen, then came all the Holidays and those three pounds just sat and sometimes a couple more pounds showed up on the scales.  I know 3-5 pounds just isn’t a lot and not worth losing sleep over, but it really bugged me.  My jeans did not fit just like I liked and I just didn’t feel at my best.  To be honest, my normal 80/20 rule of healthy eating v. enjoyment eating must have tipped and my habits gotten sloppy.  Plus the fact that I am in workout leggings and tops every single day of the week.  In front of  people.  Sometimes a lot of people.  I needed to motivate folks and walk the walk, and I just didn’t feel like I was being a good example.

I am not one for fasts, juices, crazy diets.  I am active and need to fuel myself in a healthy way and in a way that I will not begin obsessing about my food intake and the number on the scale.  I reviewed Dr. Oz’s Program, watched the TV show with his presentation more than a couple of times, re-read the program and joined the Facebook group so I could read all the participant comments.  This program seemed like a great way to jumpstart me back to my old healthy habits with good, whole foods, protein, recipes, no gimmicks to purchase extra supplements, and no skipping out on meals or complete areas of healthy foods.

For me, it was good to give up sugar, pastas, breads and most dairy.  I do not use artificial sweeteners so I did not have to give that up.  I will be honest and say I did have a bit of dairy – each morning I measured out one spoonful of half and half for my coffee.  That was my cheat on the giving up dairy.  I will be honest and say that on the weekend I did have wine with dinner.  I am happy to say that my weekend meals stayed within the parameters of the program though.  I can honestly say that I have not missed the cheese that I was so worried about.  I have not really missed the second cup of coffee.  I am thrilled to say that I have not missed the sugar or sweets.  So far I am considering that a huge WIN.

After the first week, I was really bummed to not see any difference in any weight loss – and in fact when I got on the scale I was at the top of those gained 5 pounds!  That made me really frustrated!  However, I decided not to let it mess with my head.  I did feel so much better already.  And hadn’t I recently blogged on CONSISTENCY?  I felt like my body was just adjusting and if I stayed the course I’d continue to feel better and hopefully that would show up in my clothes and less bloat.

And it did.  At the end of week two those pesky 3-5 pounds are gone and I’m back to where I like to be on the scale and with the handy measuring tape.  I am going to honestly admit that it made me pretty happy!  It’s much nicer when your jeans fit like you want . . .

Mind you, I’m not going out to celebrate by eating a cupcake!  I did not look at this program as a diet, but as a way to get back to a healthy way of eating.  I’m planning on continuing with Dr. Oz’s great tips, advice and keeping the junk out of my house and diet.  (Yep, my boys are now snacking on beef jerky and nuts and haven’t complained too  much yet)  I feel better, energized, not bloated, and have no sugar highs and crashes.  I’ve also been sleeping better – who knew?

I know all this may be a lot more information than you ever cared to know about a food program and my personal weight history . . . so sorry!

I’m am on day 12 of the plan, and am amazed at how easy it was to get away from the sugar and carbs. Sugar had become my comfort food, and I love bread and pastas, but I’m here to tell you that I don’t miss either.

I have stuck with the plan completely, and plan on making this my way of life/eating. It isn’t hard to follow at all, you just need to have the state of mind to begin with and to realize that it may take up to 3-4 days to lose the cravings completely. You are no longer addicted, and it’s easy to bypass those things that used to own you.

Looking forward to finding some great, easy recipes now that I’m just about done with the two-week plan. I didn’t weigh myself before I started, and don’t care how much weight I lose, as long as I lose it along with the all-important inches.

If you haven’t tried it, come on, don’t wait any longer. Dr. Oz has hit on a winner for all of us who have trouble dieting.
