Out of the Rut . . . back in the gym

Unknown-1I’ve been in somewhat of a workout rut lately. I’ve been out of the gym and haven’t been taking the time for my own personal workouts. Even when I’ve had the time I’ve been doing other classes rather than my own thing. Sometimes it’s just great having someone else tell you what to do and simply following, especially after being the one “telling” most of the time. Lately, though, I can tell I’ve not been giving myself that extra little push. I’ve been in a rut. Yesterday, I decided to get out of that rut and get back into the gym.

I’m glad I did. It felt good to push myself and get my own self out of my comfort zone. After a good cardio session I used a 20 lb barbell and did the following. It’s a good, efficient workout. Use any weight you like. I’ve included photos to describe the movements if you need.

Let’s stay out of the rut!

As I said I used a 20 lb barbell, basically because it had been a while since I had touched one! Use whatever feels right for you. I performed each move for 20 reps and went through it three times. By the third set my muscles were talking to me – and that’s what you want!

If you’ve found yourself in a rut, only running, walking spinning, hitting the same Zumba or other class lately, here are a few moves to get you going. Let me know how it goes!

Hope you had a fabulous Thanksgiving with friends and family! Hope you had lots of good eats and stories! But, remember it is just one day! Your fabulous healthy habits will get you through December!

What kinds of ruts do you find yourself in? How do you jump out?
