As I mentioned in my last post, we didn’t go on our traditional beach trip last year, and weren’t even sure we would again. Let me first say, thank you for the wonderful, supportive and beautiful comments to that post. We began our vacation with a family celebration and tribute to Mike that was so perfect, peaceful and wonderful in all ways.
Here’s a little glance:
During those days I could feel my stomach tightening up and that terrible anxious feeling overcoming me. Was I missing something important? A deadline? A meeting? A reply to something that someone was expecting? Of course, it wasn’t my fault if I didn’t answer an email, I had no service. However, in this day and age, who believes that excuse? Did folks think I was just ignoring them or being a total slacker? It was making me crazy. Here was this great piece of technology that was supposed to be making our lives easier, but was taking up the majority of my time during each day trying to get it fixed and figuring out my phone.
I found that all that peace from being unplugged while away was slowly ebbing away . . .
When we were finally “re-connected” I felt like I lost another entire day just playing catch up with deleting the trash, reading and responding to emails and calendaring more stuff. Ugh.
That’s okay though, I’m back in time to tell you about the last two days and the next which is FULL of lots of fitness certifications, classes and fun going on right here in Atlanta. I’m pooped from the last two days of 9 hour courses, but it’s also energizing in another way.
So, how do you feel about being unplugged? Do you ever schedule time away from electronics? How crazy does your cable provider make you? What’s on your agenda this weekend? I’ll be spending the night with a room full of girls at our church lying on a sleeping bag . . . bet you can’t beat that for a relaxing Friday night!
Have a Fun weekend!
