Here’s to the Weekend . . .

I found this in my inbox earlier this week and the timing was perfect.  It was Day 10 of the 21 Day Sugar Detox and I knew it was going to be one of those days!  So, this was a gentle little kick in my pants to take AND MAKE the time for what I needed to do that day.  I needed to take the time to prepare a healthy breakfast and meals as well as make sure I had vegetables and clean eats for a snack.  Grabbing what is on hand is so much easier, mindless and quicker.  However, that’s just what I am striving to get away from.

I waited until the weekend to post this because the timing is perfect for prepping for the weekend.  I am hoping your weekend gives you a little more time.  It is my hope that you aren’t operating at your weekly breakneck speed and can have a little more time to make the healthy choices.  If it is important to you,  you can always make time for it.  Even so, the weekend offers you even more time to use to accomplish those goals.  This is the opportunity to take the time to go for a walk, get in a workout, try out a new exercise DVD or UTube video, park at the end of the parking lot, take the stairs, get outside if the weather allows.  This is the time to go to the grocery store and get enough fruits and vegetables and lean meats to have healthy foods on hand for the week.  Take the time over these couple of days to wash, cut up and prep those fruits and veggies so all you have to do is grab them.  They will then be in your kitchen just as convenient as the bag of chips.

I know for some folks, the weekend is the time to be a little slack on your weekly healthy habits.  I say life is all about enjoyment and rewarding hard work, but don’t let yourself fall into the trap of outdoing all your healthy ways over the next couple of days.  It’s pretty easy to do!  I used to be the queen of that trap!  And I wondered why I never made any progress.  Duh.

Regardless of what your goals are they take time.  If you made New Year Resolutions and find they have already fallen into some deep dark hole, that’s okay.  Think of them not as New Year Resolutions, but as Life Resolutions.  Whatever they are, good habits, healthy eating, exercising, spending more time with family, being more patient, beating a sugar habit, whatever you were thinking about improving, let’s look at the big picture.  Hopefully, it is something you hope to add to your life, not just your first few weeks or months of 2014.  So, no worries if you think you have failed.  There is no failure here!  It’s just a new opportunity to reach that goal.  If it were easy or if it could be done in a matter of days or weeks, wouldn’t we all be just perfect?  I guess I’m saying to just MAKE TIME FOR THE JOURNEY.

Cheers to your weekend!  Here’s to using the time to stay on track, make time to do good things for yourself and your health.  Mostly, make time to have some fun out there, too!

What’s on your weekend schedule?  Have you had to schedule in some down time?  Are you so happy when Friday comes?  Are you following along on the Sugar Detox?  I will confess to not following exactly, but I’m okay with it.  Can I tell you how much better I feel?  Even if not perfect I’m so happy with the improvements!

Have a Fun Day!
