So, on Saturday I headed to the gym to hop on a treadmill. I thought going at the random hour of 2 pm would get me out of the New Year resolution crowd. Wrong. That place was jam packed. I did manage to grab a treadmill and happy to say I finished 4 miles without a lot of pain. That was a great new thing for the New Year.
While on the treadmill I saw this story that I loved! You may have seen it, but if not it’s worth a share.
MOSCOW OFFERS FREE RIDES FOR SQUATS
With only three months left before the Winter Games begin in Sochi, Russia, folks there are getting in the spirit. City Officials are offering free subway rides to folks who do 30 squats before entering the ticket barrier. Each squat is counted by a special machine with the Olympic logo.
Each squat will be counted by a special machine marked with the Olympic logo that will be placed next to electronic ticket vending machines. The idea is that as one ride on the metro costs 30 rubles, (92 cents), so each squat will be worth one ruble. The squats for rides are going on this month before the Olympic Games kick off on February 7.
So it looks something like this:
There were still some moves I had to modify. Try as hard as I can I still cannot raise my right arm and get “my bicip beside my ear” like the instructor keeps insisting we do. It just wasn’t happening. I will just keep on trying . . .
The third new thing for the New Year is a snack I found at Costco, of all places. It may not be new to you all, but it is to me and I’m so glad I found it! This Energy Blend with edamame, cranberries, almonds and pumpkin kernals is the perfect protein filled, healthy, crunchy something. Either by itself, on top of yogart or thrown into a smoothie. I will warn you it is calorie dense, so a little goes a long way. 1/4 cup is 130 calories with 4 grams of fiber and 7 grams of protein, so don’t get carried away and start munching mindlessly.
How have you begun the New Year? Tried anything new? Or anything old that might seem new? Have you gotten your house empty and folks back to school? We begin tomorrow and they are already predicting a snow day! Really??
Hope you’re having some fun today!
