The one ABOVE is my FAVORITE!! I love that Nordstrom is not going with the crazy too early decorating and shopping push our society has entered. Let’s give Thanksgiving its due. It’s a wonderful day specifically for our country to simply be together, break bread together and be Thankful. It’s a wonderful time to celebrate and should not be bypassed in the hurry to rush into a shopping frenzy. I heard on the news today that one certain large discount store was going to begin its Black Friday Frenzy 2 hours earlier than last year – opening its doors at 8 pm on Thanksgiving Day. Give me a break! Has your pie even digested? Do you have to get away from your family that badly that you’d want to get into that Frenzy on a full belly? And, if it’s two hours earlier THIS year, what about NEXT year??
Speaking of full bellies. I’m so happy it’s Fall because that means it’s time for Butternut Squash. So delicious. As you can see I tried to slip in some roasted asparagus to fool the Cavemen into eating it. It didn’t work. That’s just as well as it means more for me.
Just as I was about to finish the book, my middle son asked if we had a copy of To Kill a Mockingbird. Well, we just happened to have two copies. Therefore, I decided to read with him since it has been ages since I read this book. I am so happy I picked it up. It is so much better than I remembered! I have passed him by far and keep hurrying him to catch up with me so we can talk about it more! (Yes, I know I am a nerd.) I think we’ll have to rent the movie, too. There is no one better than Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch. (Just my personal opinion!)
