I have been asked to review a new book, 21 Days to Change Your Body, and post the review on August 13, so I am reading and dog-earing a lot of the pages.  It is a diet book that is not a diet book.  Not to spoil the upcoming review, I am including a few nuggets I thought worthy of sharing.

Here are some quotes I like:

“No one diet or person is perfect.”

“Think that’s too much?  How much time do you spend watching TV? Surfing the web?  Talking on the phone?”

“Don’t let your body get bored.  Bored = stored fat.”

This was also a good reference the author used –

VISUAL PORTION SIZES
Meat (3 oz) = Deck of cards
Pancake (1) = CD
Rice (1 cup) = Tennis Ball
Pasta-cooked (1 cup) = Baseball
Peanut butter, 1 Tablespoon = One die (really?  my weakness!)
Cheese (1 oz) = Lipstick tube
Medium or cut fruit = Lightbulb
Baked Potato = Computer mouse

More good stuff to follow . . .

Today I actually did a workout of my own.  Meaning I actually worked out to my own plan without anyone else leading me on, found a bit of my own motivation, and it was a good one.  It felt good!  Since I had to do all of my own thinking I’m hoping that is a step forward for me out of my “pit”.  I’m sure there will be many stagnate steps, backwards steps and some days, none at all.  So, if you are looking for something to do, give  it a try.

I began with 30 minutes on the elliptical, but that’s completely optional.  I also included the weights I used, but, again, mix it up for you and make it your own!  Have fun with it!
