40 DAY CHALLENGE!

Today is Ash Wednesday.  Today begins the season of Lent and a season when many people “give something up” for the 40 days leading up to Easter.  I have often given up (or should I say attempted to) certain vices for these 40 days, coffee, sugar, sweets, or other  “bad” foods.  I have a friend who gives up her beloved Cokes during Lent.  Can I even describe how grouchy she is during this time? In the past couple of years I have decided to ADD something rather than give up during Lent.  I have added things like eating more fruit or vegetable servings, daily devotions or exercise goals. This year, Ash Wednesday snuck up on me and I hadn’t specific “Add Ons” in mind.

I was talking about this to my class this morning, and decided to challenge everyone to ADD PUSH-UPS to their day during the 40 days of Lent.  So, this is the challenge:

Starting today DO 10 PUSH UPS.  EVERY DAY AFTER ADD 1 PUSHUP.  DO THIS FOR THE 40 DAYS OF LENT.  MY EASY MATH TELLS ME WE WILL BE DOING 50 PUSH UPS ON OUR LAST DAY.

You can all do this.  Do your pushups TODAY.  Just 10.  Do them before you get in the shower, after you walk the dog, right when you get out of bed, or just before you collapse into bed at night (but I’m not sure I can trust us to do them by that time of day!).  As Nike says, “Just Do It”!

That’s it.  DROP DOWN AND GIVE ME TEN!

Let me know how you do!  Are you a knees or toe push upper?  doesn’t matter to me!

By the way, I’ve also given up all Celebrity Gossip Shows – No Extra, Inside Edition etc. for 40 days.  That means no Kardashian news from me . . .

Absolutely! But it’s your biceps that are the incentive!
